Title *Adjustment Layer* tutorial
Hey there,
I am not sure what the correct words are to describe this, so have been struggling to search. Basically, you know how you can create Titles in Motion that are used in FCPX basically as adjustment layers or transitions that can be placed above layers, and then the effect is applied to everything below (such as this: https://cineflare.com/smooth/)...
Well, I am interested in figuring out how to do this in Motion. I want to start with something simple, like a little zoom in, then zoom back out. How would I go about it?
From my limited understanding, I assume I want to create a Title template (so it shows up there in FCPX), delete everything in there (because I don’t want any text). Then maybe add a camera, with some behavior attached to that camera. Am I on the right path here?
Also, if you know what this is actually called I can look for a tutorial, or maybe someone can link me a tutorial.

If I’m understanding you correctly. You can accomplish the same thing in Motion by creating a Group. And putting everything under it within that Group folder. You can then apply motion and effects to the Group. It’s actually more powerful than an Adjustment Layer in that you can determine exactly what is affected and what is not. If you don’t want the bottom “background” layer to be affected, don’t put it in the Group.

If you’re talking about an Adjustment Layer available in FCP X. You create a Text template. But ONLY delete the text, not the background layer. If you delete the background layer it won’t affect underlying video.
But I’m wondering why do this. Would you not be better off making a FCP X effect template. You could still apply that to a “blank” Adjustment Layer. You’d have the option of applying it directly to the clip or using an Adjustment Layer.
