  • Apple Motion 5 question: how do I apply the “Roughen Edge” effect like in After Effects???

For budgetary reasons, I left Adobe CC last yea,r so I no longer have access to After Effects. But one of my favorite and most used effects was “Roughen Edge” which lets you roughen the edge of any shape. I’m having a hard time figuring out how to do this in Motion 5. I have the most recent version of Motion but I’m not finding what effect will let me roughen the edges of a shape. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Do you have a specific example, so we know what you’re talking about?

Sure, here is an example on youtube describing the roughen edges effect:

The Crystallise filter will give you rough edges. (Turn the Speed down to zero.)

Probably the closest thing you are going to get in Motion with a simple filter.

There are of course other methods that are more complex.
