I’m new to Motion, my apologies for having to ask the following:

I have been trying to import a shape into the Shapes library, and all of a sudden I have only 25 shapes there. I’m pretty sure there were many, many more there a few minutes ago. When I close and reopen the file, a pop-up tells me that Media is missing, though no names are presented. In the Timeline layers some items are showing with a “?” (e.g. French Swirl). If I isolate it, I see only an empty square with the transparency blocks, indicating the shape is not to be found.

Where could they have gone, and how can I restore them?

    thanks,
    Geoff

If you go to your Applications folder, locate the Motion application, right-click and select “Show Package Contents” and go to Contents/Library Content/Shapes, that’s where the Shapes live.

Shape Styles, which is what you seem to be referring to, lives in the Shape Style folder in the same place: Contents/Library Content/Shape Styles.

Not knowing what you’ve done to lose them, it’s hard to know what to suggest. Often the simplest thing is just to go ahead and reinstall the application.
