Getting ready to shoot a scene and need some advice from Motion 5 experts…

This is the scene… The talent has recently lost a hand. She enters the scene approaches another performer at mid screen. Interactive dialogue… She turns to her right. Crosses.. and exists from where she entered.

What do I do? I can key out the hand (that part is easy)…. Now:

1.What do I do on the Layer behind the key? I would rather not shoot the entire scene in front of a Key.

    2. What do I do if her keyed out hand crosses in front of Her body or the other actor’s body?

Is there a better way of doing this – other than using Motion 5?

That’s an extremely tall order. And no, I don’t think that just a key and Motion is going to give you a better result than if you e.g. simply set the actor up with a fake stump. To do it well (all of course depending on your level of demand) we’re talking rotoscoping, CG, tracking… the works imho.

I’d go for the stump. “We’ll do it in post” is only something to live by given the skills and experience and under certain circumstances. This doesn’t sound like one of them.
