  Motion won’t open .PSD layers

  I have two images that I separated in Photoshop, exported the PSD file and opened in Motion. One opens the layers and one doesn’t.

  I took the one that doesn’t open the layers in Motion does not show the “pick layer to import” option.

  The only difference is that the one which won’t open, I had duplicated each layer, made the top layer an “overlay” for a “High Pass” effect, and then merged the corresponding layers.

  I’ve had various PSDs come in flattened only, too. It would seem that somehow some will have the layers “flag”, for lack of a better term, not set correctly for Motion to recognise. Opening said files in either PS or Pixelmator and simply re-saving them has so far fixed that. No idea on which end the bug lies, but it’s an annoying one, yes.

  Thanks for your help Robin. I finally exported the layers out of Photoshop as PNG files and did the moves I wanted in FCP.

  So simply re-saving the file didn’t work?
