  a blur layer?

  say i have a jpg on one layer and i want half of it blured, the blur then transfers across the entire jpg until it is all blurred, is there an easy way to do this? Some sort of blur layer that I could mask ?

  Duplicate the source layer and apply a blur to it – then use a mask to reveal the unblurred version as required.
