  • Any pointers on creating a transparent glass effect?

I’m trying to create the effect of text objects being mounted on glass. Not glass with any kind of frosted texture or raindrops or anything like that, but a sheet of clear glass. Does anyone have any suggestions for doing this?

I’ve tried the Glass Distortion effect in conjunction with various glass and ice textures, but the textures you can find online are all too textured to be useful – they’re all frosted or otherwise interesting, and I don’t want interesting, I want ordinary boring transparent window-style glass 🙂 Turning the Amount and Softness levels down doesn’t help, sadly.

Try doing a very light blue shape where the glass is. Then drop the transparency real low. Then use the bezier tool to create another shape that is white. That will be the glare. The glare only takes up part of the window. Then for extra effort bring in a photo of a living room or something and place it over the light blue shape. Drop the opacity really low. That creates a reflection on the glass. Hope this helps and best of luck.
