  Using Motion for editing/creating still images?

  Hey, I just have a brief question. I have final cut studio (an older version 2), which includes motion. I’d like to do a bit more photo editing and creation of images for web and video purposes, but I don’t own photoshop. I wondered if it was possible to use motion for these purposes or if that’s just crazy talk?

  Sure, I guess you could for the web….but you will be missing a bunch of tools that a program like Photoshop offers such as the clone tool and an amazing ability to compress jpeg’s for the web.

  while you can edit still images with Motion, I’d recommend using a real image editing application. I really like the new version of Pixelmator. It’s just 30$ and there’s a 30 day trial available at pixelmator.com. It even has content aware fill and vector tools now in version 2.
  or you could try the open source apps Gimp https://www.gimp.org/ and MyPaint https://mypaint.intilinux.com/ if you don’t want to spend money.

  Hope to get photoshop at some point. It’s just pretty darned expensive!
