Identifying the motion effects used in an existing video?

Hi there,

I am relatively new to motion 3. I am doing visuals for a teenagers stage play and i need to try and mimic the effects used in the following video:

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone was to identify the main components of the graphics sequence and tell me what they are. It would save me a lot of time.

It’s a live action plate – and a particle system (could be AE or motion). THe animator may be tracking the actors motions, or may be hand building the particle systems to make it look like they react to the actor.

The second swordsman was shot on green screen, and the used his alpha channel (like the iPod commercials) – along with some particle systems built around him.

It looks like it is 3ds Max , and Kraktoa, if you ask me.
But After Effects has some decent particles as well.

The choreography was definitely built AFTER the effects were built. Particle emitters or replicators. Plenty of simulation behaviors including random motion and attracted to behaviors.

LOTS of time.

I would guess that this is Trapcode’s Particular… no way to tell what the host application is.

Ahh, but I’d say it looks like 3ds Max Krakatoa, but no way to tell for sure! <:
