Motion 5 in a Final Cut Pro 6/Motion 3 Environment?
I’ve Googled the hell out of this, and couldn’t find an answer. So I’m hoping someone here can…
I would like to use Motion 5 on two workstations that currently have Final Cut Pro 6 and Motion 3. I understand that round-tripping won’t work between Motion 5 and Final Cut Pro 6, but would installing and using Motion 5 delete or modify my Motion 3/Final Cut Pro 6 apps?
And if I’m understanding correctly, I can just export Motion 5 projects as video files to use in Final Cut Pro 6, right?

I haven’t test this with FCP6/Motion 3 but it *should* work the same as with FCP7/Motion 4: when you install FCP X/Motion 5, your existing apps get moved to their own Final Cut Studio folder in the Applications folder. I’m sure installing Motion 5 won’t delete your old Motion 3.

You can open Motion 4 projects in Motion 5 – I haven’t tested Motion 3 but I suspect it would work fine.
