Hey guys, I wonder if anyone could help me with this issue?

I am wanting to create a transition in motion with drop zones that I can use as a template accessed via FCP.

What I am struggling with is how I can create something that will grab the tail end of a previous clip and the front end of another inside the drop zones. Like it would work if you used a transition in FCP.

Is this something that can’t be achieved in Motion?

Any help would be great! Thank you 🙂

If you’re talking about FCP X and Motion 5, then yes, Motion can do this. It was redesigned to be able to do this. You just need to start with a FCP Transition project which will give you a Transition A and B drop zones. In FCP those will translate to the outgoing and incoming clip in your transition.

However, if you’re using Motion 4, then you can’t do this automatically. You can create the effect, but would have to populate the drop zones manually inside Motion.

    Hi Andy,
Thanks a lot for your reply. That is what I suspected but I just wanted to make sure 🙂
