  • Motion 5 Motion Blur Settings won’t pass through to FCP X

I have been playing around with creating a transition effect in Motion 5 and publishing it back to FCP X.

Because of the type of movement I have been key-framing, I adjusted the motion blur samples in the project settings above the default 8 samples to make it look better

However it appears that it defaults back to the default 8 samples back in FCP X.

In the render drop-down in Motion 5 I have:

    Resolution > Full
    Quality > Best
    Motion Blur > On

In FCP 7 there was a preference to tell what quality to render the motion projects in your timeline, but there is no such setting in X.

There also does not appear to be anyway that you can rig / publish the motion blur setting.

    Am I missing something?

    Cheers,

    Brendan

No you’re not missing anything. At the moment FCPX handles Motion files with normal quality when playing realtime and in best quality when rendering. Motion blur is on/off based on settings in Motion file and it’s always 8 samples and 180 shutter angle.
