I have keyed out a rotating object in Motion 5. The keying process took care of most of the unwanted background, however there was still a bit showing. To get rid of this, I created a rectangle mask and key framed out the unwanted pieces. This worked perfectly when I needed to export a .mov file. But now I have been asked to deliver this file as an .flv with a transparent background for a web page. I know how to bounce with the background as an alpha channel, but my mask still shows. How do I make the mask transparent like the background?

Make sure that the keyed footage is actually transparent and not just showing on black. Masks should be transparent, I would double check your masking properties and see if needs to be set to Intersect or Replace (instead of add or subtract)

I created a rectangle to mask, then converted to mask.

So I should convert this to a mask then chose Replace or Intersect?

I’m sorry, I created a rectangle, not a rectangle mask.

You can convert your rectangle to a rectangle mask by dragging and dropping on your video clip. Then you need to invert the mask because you want the rectangle to hide what it’s enclosing, not show.
