Sorry, I am a bit of a newbie; hope I’m posting in the right place.
I need help using an FxFactory filter in After Effects.

I am working in After Effects. I have created a layer which consists of a hand against a transparent BG (not sure if this is alpha channel or not). When I put this layer on top of another layer (say a landscape) the hand appears as you would expect: just the isolated hand composited on top of a landscape.
But when I apply “Artist Sketch” to this layer with the hand, it attempts to fill in not just the hand, but also the rest of that layer, including the transparent portions (which it interprets as black). I end up with a large black rectangle around the “sketched” hand. Obviously no good since the hand is no longer isolated.

How do I get the filter to affect JUST the visible portions of the layer rather than the entire layer?

Thanks in advance for any help.
