  Apple Motion 4: how do I light object an object from behind?

  I’m currently working on a logo I would like to set light source from the back of the logo to create a silhouette effect

  I’m using a spot light but I can seem to move the light behind the logo
  can anybody show what I’m doing wrong

  AFAIK you can’t backlight with Motion’s built-in lights. You can position a light so that it is illuminating an object from behind, but you will only see that object if you move the camera to look at the part that is actually facing the light (i.e. the back of it). You won’t get any light spilling over the edges of the object to make it visible from the front.

  Maybe the light rays filter or a volumetric light plugin would give you the effect you want?

  You can also do other tricks like add a drop shadow to the logo and make the drop shadow white. Or duplicate the logo and blur and make the “bottom” logo white. Then it gives the eclipse type of light from behind look.
