Okay, so I’m doing the Motion 4 lessons in the Apple Pro Training Series book by Mark Spencer (Peachpit Press) I’m doing lesson 4, integrating motion with final cut, and this is the pipeline opening. I’m on page 127,creating a 3d spin effect. However, in my HUD, all I’m getting is a circle with only one arrow on the outside edge. I have no center arrows, and my circle DOES NOT turn into a globe at any point to be able to spin it along the other axes. The tutorial says nothing about switching into 3d vs. 2d mode at this point, but maybe that’s the problem? I’m not sure. Another really frustrating thing is that whenever I move the spin arrow in the HUD, the image in the canvas gets super huge and distorted, and I can’t view my change in real time without my canvas getting all whacked out.

Are you using Motion 4? If so, sounds like you need to reinstall.

Well, it sounds as if you’re having some problems with the program aside from just an issue with the spin behavior.

The simple answer is that there is a button in the HUD that will switch the behavior from 2D to 3D.

As far as it scaling the layer out of control…that sounds like some other problem.
