  Motion 4 Shadows – Casting on plane without image?

  Hi. Been searching around and can’t find this specific issue.

  I’m composting a scene in Motion 4 where I’m trying to get realistic shadows over a video background. I have a locked down shot of a boardwalk as a background. I have this still image of a gnome cut-out that I have run from far back in the scene up to the foreground. I added a light to get 3D shadows, and I used a map graphic placed where the ground is on the video to give me a reference plane for the gnome to run on. The shadows only show when I have the graphic in the shot.

  Is there a way to lose the graphic and keep the shadows, so it looks like the shadow is in the ground of the video?

  Sure. Just select your graphic and in the Inspector, in the Shadows section, set it to “Shadows Only”
