Centralizing Templates for a workgroup
Hi All…
Are there special considerations for setting up a centralized location for custom templates for use in a workgroup?
I’d like to have our whole team be able to contribute templates to a common location.
Does static template (non dropzone) media remain localized to a workstation or does it get copied to the central location when you create the Template?
Help is appreciated…

When you choose Save As Template, the project file, thumbnail image, preview movie, and all assets (if selected) get copied to user/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Studio/Motion/Templates to the folder with the theme name you select or create. If they aren’t in this location or the same path from Root, they won’t show up in the Template Browser in Motion or the Master Template Browser in FCP.

Hey Mark…
So I ended up making a folder on the network called “motion templates”
in that folder I made a folder for each user.
then I made aliases of these folders and copied the aliases to local library of each user machine.
In this way we all unique places to write to (so we don’t over write each other)
and we can easily browse each other’s templates for our own uses.
so far it’s working well.
