cutting out a square from a square
seems simple enough, but i’m making an almost full screen box in Motion, and from it i want to cut out a 16×9 frame (about 1/4 screen size), so video can fly up behind it and fill in the hole, but i can’t find a way to cut out such a hole using Motion tools. any ideas?

You can create a shape such as a rectangle with the rectangle shape tool. Then go to the Shape tab (F4) and un-check the Fill check box and then check the Outline checkbox.
Or you can add a rectangle mask.
