    Is there a way to get a particle (whichever will work) to look as though it’s coming out of a needle, then expanding in a “liquid-y” fashion into a “blood stream”?
    I would also like to be able to reveal text as it expands outward, then contracts, and re-expands to reveal different text.
    Thanks for any help you can provide for a newb.

    Hey Michael

    Make a particle emitter with a red circle colored by a red radial gradient.
    Its a matter of adding a gravity and edge collision behavior to the emitter and then an object below the particle stream. Make sure to take the bounce strength of the edge collision down so the particles do not bounce all over the place, hence making them flow forward like a stream.

    do not forget to turn on motion blur in the render drop down. this will make the particles look just like flowing blood.
