Open book animation
Posted by Matthew Hahn on August 15, 2009 at 11:12 pmSomeone wants me to take picture of a book closed and the same book open, and animate the book opening. Can this be done in Motion? If so, how? Thanks.

August 16, 2009 at 5:57 pmYou are going to have to take a flat on shot of the cover of the book and then move this in 3D with the anchor point set to an edge. A bit like hanging a door!

August 17, 2009 at 3:47 pmYou’re going to need the edges of the book to sell the effect. You can either shoot them with a camera or find them on a stock footage site.

August 19, 2009 at 8:01 pmDon’t forget to break the cover into two parts. The binding and where the binding meets the cover. A thick binding on a old book wouldn’t rotate. That little detail will also help sell the effect. Best of luck.
