Match Move screen content that leaves frame
I’m trying to Match Move a Quicktime movie to a LCD screen in a live shot.
The live shot ends with a zoom in to the talent and the LCD screen exits the frame.
When I do a four corner Match Move analysis the tracker gets confused as the edge of the screen zooms out of the frame. Any ideas on how to execute this Match Move?
The other part of this question is if I’m zooming out in the live shot and the LCD screen is revealed in the frame how do I track the Quicktime movie to the screen?Digital Cowboys

Is the match move loosing the track points you set?

What I have is a shot of a scene with a LCD screen with a ‘green screen’.
I am replacing the screen content with a video to be produced at a later date.
There are zooms in the shot that cause the corners of the screen to go out of frame at times.I brought the clip into Motion and added an ‘analyze motion’ behavior.
Then set up four tracker points for pining the content to the screen corners at the beginning of the scene.
As I zoom in, and any corner reaches the edge of frame, that tracker point gets confused and doesn’t know where to go.Consequently, when I try to do a ‘match move’ with the content for the screen, with four corner pinning the content gets distorted when the tracking points get confused.
Am I approaching this situation wrong?

Are the corners curved?
When the tracker gets confused it should stop the track and let you move the tracker back to the proper location, then you can continue to analyze the job.

The tracker does stop. The problem is the point of reference (the corner of the LCD screen) I’m trying to track is no longer in the frame.
The question is ‘Is there a way to track a point that is no longer visible in the shot’? It seems to me it would need to estimate where the tracker should be.
I know the Mocha plug-in for After Effects (from Imagineer) can track points that leave the frame, I don’t know if Motion can do this. Or if there is any way to work around this problem.

You have a few options. You can track another point and use the Mimic Sources option. You can manually move the tracker yourself.

True. You can track different points which are in the screen all te time. Then, when you have completed the tracking you can move the anchor point of the path in the first frame over the LCD screen.
I’m not expert, I’m noob maybe there are different solutions but if you have 4 good points (to create a box like the LCD but in a different place) you can use that and then move the path in the right place on the LCD screen.

how do you manually move the tracker? i used to know how to do it and i forgot! now im stuck.
