Apply some blur to soften it.

HDV is a highly compressed format, something like 25:1 MPEG-2 compression, that introduces a ton of banding.

Would exporting in a not-so -compressed format help?
In which case, what format would you recommend?
In the meantime I’m going to try blurring it.

Thanks a lot for your help.

[Saldivar] “Would exporting in a not-so -compressed format help?”

It can, but if you place that comp back into an HDV timeline in Final Cut Pro, the banding will be re-introduced. Better to work in HDV in Motion to minimize the banding there so you don’t re-introduce it on the mastering end.
