Sword cutting a logo
I am doing a video where I want to show a graphic on the screen and then it looks like a ‘ninja’ sword will slice through it from behind so maybe show the tip of the sword graphic. I can’t seem to find any tutorials on a good way to do this…I assume I would have to do something with a mask..not a great ‘masker’. Can anyone steer me to a tutorial that might help me on this?

If you do 3D this wouldn’t even be too hard in something like 3DS Max. The newest version of Max has a pretty quick and easy cloth tool that supports tearing.

6.5?! I suggest upgrading… Anyway, I don’t think you are going to get a very decent result with only After Effects. You could always do it in a very cheesy way by just splitting the layer into 2 halves and then animating the position and rotation, but other than that I don’t know how you’d really do this. Sorry!

sorry, cs5.5 for mac. Don’t think upgrading would get me anything, could only go up to cs6
