  How do I use a gradient as an opacity map?

  I want to use a gradient as a map for opacity for an object, a very simple thing to do in other programs, but I am restricted to motion. I have the gradient and I have the object, I want white to equal transparent and black to equal opaque. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

  Heya,

  You’ll want to use the gradient as the source for an Image Mask, probably based on the gradient’s luminance. There’s an older post describing the process here: https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/170/856786?
