  • Export Motion File Into FCP Creates Pixelated Image

Posted by Don Gaile on November 2, 2006 at 7:38 pm

I’ve exported a lossless animation video only file from Motion to use in FCP. It exported from Motion with no problems and imported into FCP without problems. When I view the file in the Viewer it looks pristine. However when it’s placed on the Timeline suddenly the quality is less than perfect with images pixelated etc. What is my problem?

The Motion file is 720×480 NTSC 8 bit color depth. The sequence in FCP is also 8 bit.

    I’m using FCP 5.1.2 and Motion 2.

Have you looked at it at 100% magnification in FCP with the playhead paused?

Are you correctly interpreting the alpha channel (Premultiplied with black)?
