I need a little creative inspiration. Anyone have a good site with lots of galleries to show what people are doing in 2d and 3d Motion Graphics these days?

I have a slow connection, but I have seen some good examples in the demo reels forum here at Creative Cow…

I usually find something good when perusing the Design In Motion site https://www.uemedia.net/CPC/designinmotion/index.shtml.

Some of my favorite stuff comes out of MK12 https://media2.mk12.com/mk12_version_five.html. Check out the In House Work section (on the right). The 2003 piece “Brazil Inspired: MachoBox” is one of the best works of motion graphics I’ve ever seen.

Re: MK12 awesome stuff! Could you do all that Machobox stuff in Motion? It looks like 3d space but maybe it’s clever movement and scaling..

Love the Funkstorung Sleeping Beauty video too.

specialcase do you use AE or combustion as well as Motion?

    Hey Rene,

I’ve been a regular AE user since 3.0. I occasionally dally in Combustion, but I haven’t spent too much time in it. I’ve spent a lot more time doing compositing than motion graphics, using tools like AE, Commotion (back in the day), Chalice, Rayz, Shake, Cineon, etc.

    Hi specialcase,

How useful is Motion for your compositing work?

    Cheers

For short-form work, it’s great. Having the app stay interactive and allowing me to leave it playing while making changes is very useful. I do miss having a flowgraph, though, when things get a little less linear 🙂
