I’ve receintly created a text project in motion, just a few basic titles. I saved the project then went into FCP and tried to import them into my graphics bin. As soon as i tried this an icon came up that said an error was detected, one file was recognized and another wasn’t. Then i went back into motion and re-saved the file and exported it as a quicktime movie. This worked except when i placed the text file onto my video track in FCP it had the black background with it instead of the text key’d properly over my video. Not sure if i made a mistake in motion or FCP? Any suggestions?

First, check the alpha channel for the clip brought into FCP. If it is all white then …

Second, check to see if the project’s BG color in Motion preferences is set to 0% opacity before rendering.

Third, make sure there is no background layer or element that might be opaque. Check the alpha channel in the Motion canvas as well.
