Anyone know how to open an AE project into Motion 2? Does Automatic Duck support this yet?

I have these bumpers and lower 3rds and bugs that someone built in AE. But I would love to be able to open these projects inside Motion so I can use the round tripping. Otherwise I’ll have to export a clip from AE every time I need to make a change to it.

    Thanks,

I was able to recreate the AE projects in Motion. I took all of about 15 minutes. Very Cool.

Rebuilding in Motion 2 is sometimes the easiest course, assumning you don’t need any AE-specific features or plug-ins.

Motion 2 projects import nicely into After Effects though.

    Hey Jim,

How are things going down South?

Yea, I was really impressed and psyched with using Motion 2 with these elements. I’m cutting a half hour series and all the graphic elements were made in AE by a great designer. But obviously we would have the adjust the lengths or change the names in the lower 3rds. Me and the assistants got tired of exporting a dozen QT from AE. I opened up Motion and tried to recreate the elements and I was totally surprised that it only took me 15 minutes to recreate each one. Some only took 1 minute!

And now we LOVE the round tripping of Motion and FCP. It’s great! No more QT exports – almost instant updating. Now I wish I can search for Soundtrack Pro sfx from within FCP.

    See you around soon!

    Chi-Ho,

Things are fine here in ATL. Nice to be home after a month on the road. Am also pleased with the way my DMTS INSIDE MOTION 2 dvd turned out.

Have you discovered the Replicator Lower Thirds in M2 yet? Some totally cool title bgs (although they can be a little distracting at default speed. Tweaking the parameter behaviors helps).

You might import the folders where the STP SFX live so you can go through them as necessary in your FCP projects. They are placed by default in the Library > Audio > Apple Loops > Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro > SoundIdeas and the PowerFX > Sound Effects folders.

Hoping to get up to NAB East. Maybe I’ll see you there.

I dragged a motion 5 project into After Effects CC 2014 just now and it says “media missing in Motion File .motn”

How did you import yours into AE?
