How is this supposed to work? I see it listed as a feature, but I don’t see any mention of it in the Docs. I can import a motion project into AE, but it seems to be using Automatic Duck as a conduit. If I disable Autoduck, AE won’t import the motion file. Which step am I missing? thanks

In AE try to import a file. In the top dialogue under enable, select all files. Point to a Motion project. On the import dialogue at the bottom, under format, select import as footage. Click OK and go.

interesting. so it just comes in as a piece of footage. If you have multiple layers, etc. you don’t have access to them. OK, thanks for the help.

Access to the original layers is through Motion. If you import correctly the links stay live.

Be sure to interpret alpha as Premultiplied with Black when importing into AE.

Just an aside to this. You can use Motion to give some of the functionality of Automatic Duck. Cut a project in FCP, make it a Motion project. Then import it to AE. No rendering. You don’t have any layers but you could do things like turning off layers in Motion and saving incrementally.
