X800XT… new firmware… again

Thanks for the heads up Mitch,

I was starting to think ATI were going to let this slip by them, but this is very good news. My X800 XT is sat in its box feeling sorry for itself. Time to plug it back in and fix the damn thing (downgrade the firmware). Having re-read the original ROM updater notes, I have no idea why I even thought I needed to do it in the first place – I thought I had learnt this lesson before with other bits of hardware, so I am really ashamed I fell for it this time!

Has everyone noticed that this ATI video card isn’t an option when you buy a new G5 from Apple? Anyone know why?

Ok, finally plucked up the courage to do this today and now I have a fully working ATI X800 XT card again 🙂
