Help with Audio Skipping
Posted by Doug on April 25, 2005 at 6:51 pmI am new to Motion and I am not able to get an audio file(aiff or mp3) to play in the time line without skipping. This makes it hard to do timing for text. The audio is fine and even previews fine. I have a dual 2.0 with 1.5G Ram.

April 25, 2005 at 7:11 pmit is set to “Skip Video Frames” and it still skips. I did have the resolution set to Full, I set it to quarter and it’s almost there, just a few skips. The video from FCP also skips based on resulotion. Do I just need more RAM?

April 27, 2005 at 6:29 pmThat could be your problem – that is an underpowered card to begin with for running Motion, and by using two monitors you are splitting the VRAM in half – by switching to one monitor and getting a new card with 256MB of RAM, you will effectively quadruple your ram (and the GPU on the new card won’t hurt either!)

April 28, 2005 at 11:07 amWhat output device are you playing your audio through? The Mac’s internal audio or a capture device? I had similar audio skipping problems when monitoring through Cinewave which made Motion unusable. Swapping to the G5’s internal audio totally cured the problem.
