  • Making sound effects sound better when played through an iPods speaker

    Hi.

I am trying to create some sound effects for an app. They sound great when played through my monitors but when I play them through the iPods speakers they sound really tinny.

How would I rectify this issue in Audition? How should I output the sfx? Do I add more bass to the original sound file or am I just aiming too high?

I realise I will not get 5.1 Dolby surround out of a iPod speaker but if I could get rid of the tinniness I would be happy.

    Thanks
    R.

You’re probably aiming too high. Everything I’ve read (and it’s minimal) when it comes to sound design for iphones and so on suggest even rolling off frequencies below 50-100Hz so the external speaker has a better time reproducing the frequencies it’s optimized for.
