My work office used to use Cool Edit Pro 2 to record voice comms that we have to put into a data product. We record at 8000Hz and 8 bit because these recordings are so long (sometimes up to 12 hours). Because of new information security policies, we are forced to upgrade our software because it is deemed no longer supported. Therefore, we have upgraded to Adobe Audition 3 (the latest in what used to be Cool Edit Pro).

Upon going through the usual steps we would in Cool Edit Pro, Adobe Audition would not let us record saying “We do not support recording when the session sample rate does not match your hardware sample rate. Your current hardware sample rate is: 44100Hz” Any thoughts?

We need to record at a much lower rate. 10 hours of recording yesterday at 44100Hz used up nearly 3Gb where as the recording on Cool Edit Pro @ 8000Hz was just over 700Mb. We have to input this into a data product and we try to send it out via Cd’s as much as possible. We also have to archive these recordings and so you can see the space issue. Please, Please, Please help us out.
