  • How to amplify quiet sound in dynamics processing?

Posted by Jaanus Henno on March 28, 2009 at 12:18 pm

    Hi!

I have an audio file with a speech with translation, and since translation is really quiet, I would like to amplify it without compressing the main speech, cause usually compressing makes the sound a little artificial. How to do that? What settings I have to manipulate?

    Thank you!

Manually you can select each bit of translation and raise the volume. Alternately you could use a second copy of the sound file and delete/lower the speech part and raise the overall volume to play back with the original audio.
(Audition 3) Using Markers in Audition gives you a way to automate the process.

    Thanks for the help,
but I would still stick to the dynamics processing effect, cause it’s the most time saving option. Actually I managed to get some understanding by reading the help file and found some examples from the net to get pretty much what I need at the moment, although I would like to find out is there some resources which very nicely explain how Dynamics processing actually works, so I could actually get a whole picture of what am I doing?
