    Hey,

I’m a video guy wandering blind thru audio land, and I’ve been asked to set some VOs that I have to a specific range.

“The audio should remain unmixed on the master but should be mixed on the video that is being rendered. Standard volume for exporting the audio files should peak @ -3 and bottom at -6.”

I’ve been playing around with Audition and Sound Booth, but am not confident I’m doing this right.

Can someone please give me a quick explanation how to do this?

    Thanks!

    -Derek

That doesn’t make any sense at all. For something to meet that criteria, the audio would have to be so compressed it only had a dynamic range of 3dB, in which case, you wouldn’t be able to understand the words. So my suggestion is to simply normalize to -3dB because whoever gave you those instructions has no concept of audio or at the very least, gives very poor instructions.

Yeah, it sounded quite odd to me too.

Thanks for confirming what I assumed. I’ve decided the hard limiter effect works for me here.
