    Hi there,

How do I, using Audition, Send Midi Time clock sync message to my MIDI devices? Specifically I’ve got a Roland Drum machine that you can drive with Midi Time Clock. I’ve used other sequencers and have gotten it to run just fine. I’ve got Audition 1.0 and amd using an M-Audio MIDISPort 2×2 as my MIDI Out device.

    Thanks,

    Randal.

    Hi Randal,

I’ve been looking for the same thing as you for some time to sync my Roland Drum machine with Audition.

Here’s what I’ve found so far:

First, There is no such thing as “MIDI Time Clock”.

There is MIDI Timecode (MTC), which encodes absolute time (seconds). Audition works fine with MTC.

There is MIDI Beat Clock (often known simply as MIDI Clock) which is what the Roland drum machine is expecting. It encodes beats based on dividing each quarter note into 24 slices.

There’s no way to convert between the two types of signal without a tempo map indicating how many beats per second. It may be possible to get Audition to record the MIDI beat clock, and play it back later to sync up the drum machine, but I haven’t gotten this to work.
