query / moving background effect
Hi there
———- I’ve seen the effect on the Element demos where there are rotating objects which are followed by the camera and the out-of-focus b/g spins also to match the move.
Does anybody know of a tutorial anywhere that shows how to do this without using element 3D please ?

Trapcode Horizon ca be used to create a 360 background that is sensitive to the camera.
CC Cylinder or CC Sphere can be used as well.
Depending on your background, a series of 3d layers positioned in a square/hexagon/octogon shape could work as well.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

I think you are referring to the spherical reflection map which can be turned on/off in element.
If you have CS6 you can just add photo/video(they need to be really large for this to work), turn the render engine to ray tracing and right click the layer and choose environment map. Now just add a camera and have at it.
If you don’t have CS6, Trapcode’s Horizon is a plugin that will also accomplish this effect.

Also new in Ae CS6: the bundled CC Environment effect. Like Trapcode Horizon, CC Environment allows you to use environment maps and is responsive to the comp camera.
