  Converting FPC HD Footage into After Effects

  I’ve tryed importing HD footage into after effects 6.5, i’ve made sure all the settings are correct and how they should be 1080i……etc etc.

  But the end result when i export the footage from after effects using the HDV codec it degrades it,

  theoretically it should not change the quality right ??

  But it does……..

  has anyone else had this problem with HD footage exporting from after effects ??? There must be something im doing wrong or maybe thats just after effects ??

  After Effects always recompresses every frame of imported footage. The only way to minimize image degradation is to render to a high quality “lossless” codec such as Quicktime’s Animation codec in the intermediate stages, and delay recompressing to the final lossy codec (HDV?) until the end of the entire process.

  That’s my 2 cents, never having worked with HDV. Hope it helps.
