    Hey All,

Trying out AE CS6 with Mocha for AE for the first time and running in to some major issues, hoping someone can guide me through!

First, When I export shape data from mocha and paste either with the mocha shape plugin, or paste mocha mask options, regardless, only the first frame of mask pastes. None of the motion keyframes come across so I end up with just the first frame of my mask….very irritating. Not sure if there’s a new setting I’m missing?

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks all!
    Ryan

Hi Ryan, a few things to check:

    1. Is the spline you are exporting linked to a track (ie. Is “Link to Track” set to a layer name) ? Does it have manual keyframes?
    2. Do you have any in/out points?
    3. When you paste the data into a text file do you see all your frame numbers?

I hope this hasn’t come too late, but I had the same issue and this is what I discovered.

I was using a long piece of footage and set the in points further into the clip. When I pasted the keyframes into After Effects it included all the frames from the beginning without data. Try pasting the shape, selecting the keyframe property in the timeline, and shifting the keyframes over with alt+left arrow or alt+shift+left arrow. If you need any more clarification let me know.

Well this may have come too late for the previous poster, but it solved my problem and taught me a new trick in the process. And most importantly, it saved me a ton of prolonged frustration. Thanks, Michael!

    Hey Ryan and Michael,

I wonder if you or someone else in this thread can help me. I’m running into a related problem, in which my track does not match the footage once pasted in AE. I’m familiar with Mocha AE but this is the first time I use Mocha shapes, though.

When I look at the track in Mocha everything matches perfectly, I have a track layer and then two separate layers which are linked to the track layer and are not being tracked themselves.

Once I move them to AE, one of them I paste it as a shape and the other one as a corner pin effect, none of them are matching properly.

I tried offsetting the keyframes as Michael mentioned but that didn’t help either.

I have the in point further in the clip and I do not have any manual keyframes.

I already checked fps, PAR and comp size, everything matches between the two.

Yesterday I tracked something for this same project using Mocha AE and paste it using corner pin and everything was ok, I’m completely lost as to why this one is not working, my track looks really solid in Mocha.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.
    David.

    Having the exact same issue.

Done this a few times before without issue and no idea what’s changed.

Mocha has mind-blowing tracking power but so far I have to say I am very disappointed with all the computability issues it seems to have.

    Anyone get this figured out?

    Hi all,

I’m brand new to the forums, but was searching for the answer to this issue too.

I was searching around and came across a workaround from this forum on mocha:

“As a workaround, I rendered out my comp from AE before going over to mocha. I then pulled that render back into my comp and used that to work on in mocha – that way the media that mocha is looking at is exactly the same as my comp.” -Mocha user john-angless_b10a8

I discovered another workaround as well:
    1. Set your composition start frame number the same as your mocha clip start frame number.
    2. Extend the duration of your composition to be a longer than your clip, and select all the keyframes.
    3. Move your CTI to the frame number of the first mocha shape keyframe, and drag the AE mask keyframes to start at the CTI.

Hopefully that makes sense, I can provide screenshots if need be.

    Best,
    Martin
