    Hi people.
    I need to make a small 10sec.
company’s logo 3D animated presentation that I’ll put
at the very start of my DVD’s.
Is After effects too much for these task??
    Is it’s learning time long?
Your suggestions & knowledge are welcome.
    Thanks

AE is not really a 3d app.

You’ll need some Zaxwerks plugin or their full package.
    Or a 3D app like Maxon cinema4D

And I might add the learning curve for 3D apps. is MUCH greater than After Effects…

U could also use Boris Red. Tho the “Purchase” curve for this one is hire than AE.

I would either get AE and the invig plug-in (both work for PC) and just learn how to use the basics of AE and Invig to get by. Or pick up a program like Carrera (eovia.com) that is a few hundred bucks and is pretty easy to do basic things.

If this is too much then I’d take the software budget you have for it and hire someone to bang it out in a couple of hours.

I may get some flack for saying this…

Since i gather you are not an animation team or animator (at leasy your question leads me to believe that), You might want to consider actually hiring someone to model and animate your logo for you.

While I often encourge people to learn things on their own, if it’s not your field, and you want to do something to impress your clients, go with someone who has some experience creating “Sexy” graphics like you probably want.

That’s not to say you shouldn’t learn to do this if you want to. Just know that it takes time to learn to create professional quality work – if it’s the first thing you’re clients see, you want them to KNOW you’ve got it together (even if you don’t).
