3 Projectors from one machine
Hi guys I’m not sure if I am in the right forum but maybe you guys can help.
I have an event coming up in December in which teams preform a set number of tasks, for the first I would like to set up three projectors that I can control from one computer (the idea being the competitors will have a screen in front of them and one for eithers side of them to pick up information from their peripheral vision) I hope to manage them through Adobe Director so I can set points throughout the video and the competitors must click a mouse to respond to various changes in the video, which I hope to record.
My question is can three projectors run from the one computer? or do I need to find a simpler solution?

Hey saw your post over in FCP land! Mark is right… it will be hardware and software driven… here is a link to start you off, if you want more just put “show control software” into google
if you know the av company that might being doing your show, if it is not you give them a call…
this sort of thing can get complex but the results can be very cool!

Hey Jude,
There may be a couple solutions for this, depending on how interactive the piece is. One is the Matrox TripleHead2Go, which attaches to the video out of your computer (by VGA or dual-link DVI), presents itself to the computer as a single very wide screen, and then splits the output onto three distinct DVI-I or VGA outputs.

You should test this with your playback computer before committing to this as your solution. I’ve used these units with success, but playing three streams of high-res video is demanding.
Of course, I also always recommend a backup system — if the computer crashes for any reason, you will lose all three outputs, so having a live backup and a VGA or DVI router to do the switchover may save you some pain on-site.

There is a company named Renewed Vision (www.renewedvision.com) that have a presentation product named ProPresenter and a video engine named ProVideo Player. They’ve done a lot using TripleHead2Gos and actually have built support into their software to allow extend use of them. This allows one machine to control content out to three displays. 2 graphics cards. That way you’ll have four DVI/VGA ports that can all be independently controlled with one computer, just like having 3 or four monitors. Getting the software to work on separate screens may be a challenge, but it would definitely be possible.
