Just Generally interested in After Effects.
Hi guys, this is probabily out of context to what people are asking for on here but I really would like somebody to help me.
A few years ago i discovered After Effects and I’ve always really liked the idea of improving my knowledge on it. But every time i get into it I’ll get stuck on a certain something or I won’t know exactly what I want to do.
Basically I’m asking somebody who know’s what they’re doing to sort of give me a kickstart. like tell me realistic targets of what you would like me to do, and eventually get better so I get enough knowledge i can venture off on my own. It just sucks when I try and feel like I need specialist trainers or to buy certain softwares in order to learn.

That depends a lot. What would you like to do?
Start with a focused exercise. Have you ever wondered “how would I do that?” while watching a movie or TV? Perfect! Now try to do it 🙂
Alternatively, think of content or a technique that interests you. Outerspace? (How would I make a sun? a star field? a nebula?). Compositing and Effects? (How could I make someone teleport? burst into flames? sprout wings and fly?). I’d recommend starting small but don’t limit yourself creatively.
This forum as well as other resources will be available if you need feedback or get stuck.

I think the best approach is to learn the basics. To truly understand this program, you need a very solid foundation. The way to create complex animations is by knowing and understanding each little step that needs to be taken to create an impressive end result.
The step-by-step learning might be boring, but when you are finished it makes understanding and doing More complicated tutorials a lot easier.
