  Export timecode source

  Hi guys I have an issue regarding timecodesource when rendering a .mov from AE.

  I have recieved a lot of shaky clips filmed with a DV camcorder that needs to be stabilized in after effects. After stabilizing i wish to export/render the clips to a .mov and batch import them to Final cut pro. Therefore I need the original timecode in each clip so I dont have to insert them all manually back in place.
  Ive searched everywhere for this but I can only find threads that explains how to make burned in visual TC but thats not what I want.

  Anyone know of some way to do this? Thanks in advance.

  I think you can use Quicktime 7 to do this.

  If you look at clip properties, you’ll see that you have video track / audio tracks / and on your source you’ll have timecode track.

  Just copy it from the source clip and paste it to the rendered file.

  After Effects CS5.5 and higher has support for source timecode.

  Dragging a footage item onto the new comp button in the bottom of the project panel will create a new comp with the same starting timecode as the footage itself.

  (This feature can be overridden to create comps that always start at zero in Project Settings > Time Display Style > Timecode > Footage Start Time.)
