  Dissolving Flourish – PLEASE respond

  i need to have a dissolving chase to an arrow on screen.

  In one layer i have a arrow flourish. The arrows comes out of screen and draws across screen. I want the arrow dissolve the tail after its printing on screen.

  So i duplicated the same arrow flourish, moved it over in the time line with the same dimensions. I added silihoette luma as the blending mode. This accomplished the arrow dissolving i wanted. It also cut a whole in my background plate while i was at it. Need to keep the background plate the same

  Anyone have any suggestions

  Silhouette Luma will cut a hole for all layers below. Thus, you have to breakdown your routine into two separate comps – one with the silhouette and its intended effect and another comp where you place a copy of the silhouette comp over your desired background.

  Thank you Roland

  u solved the problem… I am still getting a outline around the arrow that i can’t get rid of.. Tried
  making the luma layer bigger but it actually made the problem worse. Any suggestions??

  Sean, without looking at the comp, it’s kinda difficult to say what’s causing an outline to appear. Perhaps you can try Silhouette Alpha instead. And if that doesn’t work, post screencaps of your timelines and comp panel.
