Is it possible in AE to have a 2D animation say a ball and then map onto that a later of a face and have it track around with it?

I know it can be done in any 3D app but I’m trying to keep it all within AE. I’m happy to look at Plug-ins if there’s one out there but can’t seem to find anything.

    Thanks!

Not quite clear what you want to achieve- can you post examples or a sketch?

Here’s a document about using UV maps in After Effects:

This does involve the use of a 3D application, but it allows you to do more of the work in After Effects.

What I’m trying to do is map on some face plates I’ve got over the top of some model heads that I have. Someone has made all the material for me but I’m not proficient in any 3D app to complete the work.

I wasn’t sure how far the 3D side of things went in AE as learning a 3D app is daunting!

I’ll check out the links from Todd, many thanks.
