  Flashing red frames at the start of menu movie.

  Doing a Blu-ray. My main menu in the first 6-7 seconds has several flashing red frames (I guess 2-8 frames). And when it loops the red flashing frames recur always at the same place.
  I have done a variety of tests and cannot find the source of the problem. The .mov file plays fine. The compressed m4v or H.264 when converted to mkv plays fine.

  The menu is an overlay with four buttons, I add a 51 sec video and audio

  Recently for a conference I resorted to replacing it with a still.
  The source video is 1920x1080i from FCP. I have also created a project only with this menu it still does it.
  I am currently using AME vbr 2 pass 18/30 but have also done other settings. I have also imported the file into Premiere and exported, still red flashing frames (when in Encore.. I have done a variety of compression versions and used different compressors etc… I am at a loss!

  I have found a work around by accident. In this case importing the FCP .mov file and transcoding within encore: no flashing red frames. (don’t get it, but it works.) while the other recent versions were with ame.
