Can anyone advise on how to generate an srt or slt file from FCP7 to import into Encore CS5 to create a switchable subtitle track? I have tried exporting an xml of the isolated subtitle track and using DVD SP, but the quality of the text was awful, so have decided to switch to Encore.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    hi simon,
to switch to encore wont make any difference on the subtitles.

subtitle are 2bit RLE-grafics, like button-overlays as well, so you wont get any better result.

besides that, to create a STL from FCP XML is possible with annotation edit from https://www.zeitanker.com

encore has it´s own text-file-structure that could also been created with it.

    cheers

Thanks Danny, I will have a look into Annotation Edit. I don’t suppose you know of any free softwares that do the same thing?
