NAB Encore CS 6 comments…anyone?…… Bueller?
Hey if anyone at NAB can comment on Encore cs 6 it would be much appreciated.
there was a rather ambiguous announcement about a partnership with DTS.
They say Encore will accept all flavor of DTS streams. They don’t say
if Encore or Media Encoder have a DTSHD-MA surround encoder to make those
streams.if it does, I could care less if pcm surround is supported.
any info would be helpful.

well it sounds like they will not be offering a DTSHD-MA encoder
as part of media encoder. You were right Eric. 🙂Also heard it doesn’t look like uncompressed pcm surround is
supported either.If it helps anyone else, the DTSHD-MA encoder from DTS is $ 1,500.
A bit steep, but reasonable given Dolby TrueHD is $ 10,000 and
doesn’t include an embedded backward compatible core audio track
for profile 1 blu-ray players.I did find Minnetonka offers a DTSHD-MA encoder that requires
you have apple compressor 3 installed, it only costs $ 249.So those of us with Final Cut Studio2 can go that route.

I’ll be purchasing the Minnetonka encoder, but it could bring you a lot of business.
I’m assuming you charge a per minute rate with a minimum 1/4 hr?

I think this would really have to be priced on a case by case basis. Too many variable (source type, format rate conversion, frame rate issues, encoding quality) and the biggest factor from our perspective is setup. Takes us longer to do 5 15min encodes than 1 2.5 hour encode.
But anyone who needs to do a one off dts-ma file, or is in need of high end bluray authoring should feel free to contact me. (that’s not meant to be a plug, though I suppose it is)

confirmed, no uncompressed pcm surround sound support in cs 6.
only stereo as far as pcm is concerned.
It should be able to support that.
