  Purchasing a Blue ray burner …recommendations?

  I’m slowly but surely building our motion graphics and animation services at the agency I currently work for.

  I hit a real wall last week when a client wanted us to provide them with a DVD for their corporate headquarters lobby. It’s extremely high-vis for us, and now we’re looking to purchase a blue ray burner.

  I have one shot here to provide our purchasing agent with some specs-direction, otherwise he’s going to pick based on price alone.

  I’m working on a MacPro 2010 tower, and the decision to go with an internal burner vs. and external burner is still on the table.

  The only limitations I can see are the available external ports on this tower… Firewire 800 and USB 2.

  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  We have an internal Pioneer BDR 206D with a Mac Pro tower at work and it’s problematic. Sometimes Snow Leopard won’t recognize it until it’s rebooted. So don’t buy that one.

  FW 800 seems overkill for an optical drive

  There’s someone on ebay selling external usb bus powered
  blu-ray burner. Works great in any mac or pc.

  they are really cheap too…buy now $ 68
